Summer Proof Makeup

Summer is in full-swing here in Chicago and let me tell you… it is HOT outside. By no means am I complaining, as it always feels like winter is right around the corner, but I forgot what it feels like to literally feel like you’re melting outside. Through trial and error, I’ve finally nailed down my no-frills summer makeup routine and am excited to share it with you!

Dr. Jart BB Cream
NARS Illuminator

I keep things very minimal on my face in the summer. I’ve tried a number of tinted moisturizers, BB creams and foundations, but I always come back to Dr. Jart’s BB cream. There is no other product out there that provides the same even coverage while still feeling super light on your skin. As an added bonus, it’s a moisturizer, sunscreen (SPF 45), and treatment serum all-in-one. I apply NARS' illuminator on the apples of my cheeks back towards the top of my hear for a subtle glow. To get the perfect airbrush finish I apply everything with my beauty blender. (tip: you can scoop up this set for a great price at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale right now!)

Two Faced Natural Eye Palette
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara

I recently discovered Two Faced’s Neutral Palette and can guarantee that this is the one palette that I will re-purchase over and over again. The shades are beautiful and can easy be applied for a day to night look.

What are your summer-must haves for your beauty routine?

Glossier's Soothing Face Mist

Into the Gloss editor and founder Emily Weiss started Glossier with the intention of focussing on skincare first, and makeup second. Anyone in the beauty world will tell you...there is serious hype around all Glossier products. Naturally, I've been stalking the Glossier lineup since it was launched debating which product to try first.

I decided to try the Soothing Face Mist. I’ve heard the benefits of face mists, especially those with rose water extract, and decided that this product would be my first. Spraying something on your face either after washing it or throughout the day over your makeup may seem counterproductive, but this spray is meant to hydrate and prep skin before moisturizing, or serves as a perfect refresher and midday pick-up.

The verdict? I’m a huge fan. If you’re looking to create a dewy, fresh-faced look I highly recommend purchasing this spray and keeping it in your bag for mid-day pickups. The smell of the spray itself is perfect to lift you up and reinvigorate your skin and senses.

Have you tried any Glossier products? Would love to hear your thoughts!

April Beauty Buys

I cannot believe how fast this year is going! April flew by, but you better believe I made time in my schedule for Sephora's VIB sale which I can thank for the majority of my beauty purchases this month.

Pixi Glow Tunic
Despite many "glowing" reviews I was not a fan of this product. It's received a lot of hype in the beauty community but I found it very drying and almost too strong for my skin.
Repurchase? No

Becca Champagne Pop Highlighter
My favorite beauty buy from April was the Becca highlighter in Champagne Pop. This is another product that's received raved reviews, and I've found that it lives up to it's reputation as a great universal highlighter. My only complain is that it might be a little too yellow on my skin.
Repurchase? Maybe

Fresh Black Tea Toner
After I gave up on the Pixi Glow Tonic, I added the Fresh Black Tea toner to my Sephora haul. I've owned this toner in the past, but find it a little too pricey to buy over and over again. However, with the 15% discount I couldn't pass it up. This is a holy grail toner in my opinion, it keeps my skin soft and smooth and prevents breakouts.
Repurchase? Yes

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick
I learned a valuable lesson this month..always check the oz's when purchasing something. I bought the Hourglass liquid lipstick in Canvas Rose, and when it came in the mail I was truly shocked. I ordered the travel size version and it was the smallest lip product that i've ver seen. If anything this should be given away as samples at the store or for 100 point, not $10. While the packaging was adorable I found the formula too drying and size too small for the price point, so this guy went back to Sephora.

NYX Dark Circle Corrector
I'm completely fascinated with the color correcting trend that is popping up all over every beauty outlet, and decided to try it out in the form of this NYX dark circle corrector. Apparently orange helps conceal blue and purple tones. It's no miracle product, but it does a decent job for the price tag.
Repurchase? Maybe, I'd like to try another brand first. Any suggestions?
