One of my favorite aspects of our wedding day was the bridal party's attire. It was really important for my husband and I that our bridal party felt comfortable and confident during our wedding, without spending a fortune.
When visualizing our wedding day, I had a color palette in-mind from the beginning which basically broke the rules of wedding 101...our groomsmen and bridesmaids wold not be matching. This was a hard concept for some to envision, and took some serious coordination to get the shades absolutely perfect but I could not be happier with how everything turned out.
For the bridesmaid's dresses I had always envisioned my girls wearing a Jenny Yoo dress. Yes, I admit I had this in mind long before I was engaged (I'm one of those girls). In my defense, I had worked on a bridal designer account when I started out in the branding agency world, and was tasked with auditing the up-and-coming designers, which is where my obsession with Jenny Yoo started. As soon as I got engaged I started browsing her site and collection at BHDLN and was immediately drawn to the Annabelle convertible dress in lilac.
The color not only fit in with my overall vision for the day, but it also complimented everyone's skin tone. As you can see, my friends had a lot of fun with the flexible style options and I couldn't get over how romantic the tulle looked. Honestly...at the end of the day I wished I had ordered myself one!
The colors perfectly complimented my dress and the beautiful Cincinnati fall landscape.
When it came time to decide on what the groomsmen would be wearing, we were both in favor of suits. While tuxes are considered more formal, we loved the polished look of a great fitting suit. Suits, however, can get very pricey so after doing our research we went with Jos. A Bank's slim-fit suit during one of their "3-for-1" weekends. The ties took a few trips to the store to find the shade that I was looking for, but we ended up going with Charlotte Steel Gray from the Tie Bar. I highly recommend checking them out, especially if you live in Chicago, as they have endless amounts of shades and styles.
I hope you enjoyed the second installment of my Wedding Wednesday series! Stop by next week for another post. If you have any wedding related questions please feel free to comment and I will do my best to address them in the series!
